I am Hanseung Kum leading NIER as President
The National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) was established in
1978 as the sole institute for research into the entire environment. Since
then, NIER has conducted a wide range of research on environmental
health, climate&air, water, resources to energy, and living environment.
As the backbone of National Research for the environment, we are working
on the fronts to support environmental policies, including climate crisis
adaptation, with the following three focuses.
First, we have put our effort into analyzing and providing data in order to
support the establishing of environmental polices.
Second, we are trying to frequently interact with private sectors and people
draw their understanding and cooperation for sustainable future.
Third, we focus on future-oriented research areas to enhance the national
competitiveness.
Going forward, we are committed to implementing quality of life in a
healthy environment with trusted research.
