We are committed to improving environmental health monitoring systems and advancing the chemical risk assessment to protect the public from environmental hazards, through the following activities.

  • Establishment and operation of a national environmental health monitoring system
  • Research on the status of exposure to and health impacts of environmental pollution on residents in areas vulnerable to pollution
  • Participation in the Korean Children’s Environmental Health Study (Ko-CHENS) and associated international collaboration
  • Risk assessment and inhalation toxicity studies of hazardous chemicals
  • Research on the effects of chronic exposure to substances with environmental risks and hazard assessment of metallic nanomaterials
  • Research to improve the reliability of chemical toxicity prediction using quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR)
  • Research on analysis method of persistent organic pollutants(POPs), which are chemicals of global concern
  • Research on the fate of persistent organic pollutants in environment
  • Development of technology for the management of biocidal products/household chemical products and establishment of a safety management system
  • Health monitoring of victims of exposure to humidifier disinfectants
  • Research on the impact of humidifier disinfectants and toxic chemicals on human health
